Fifteen years turning one bacterium into an industrial raw material

GKRZ (Beijing Guoke Rongzhi Biotechnology Co., Ltd.) discovered and domesticated the exclusive Vibrio GKRZ magnetotactic strain, then spent over a decade converting its natural magnetosomes into BNCM — a synthetic-biology-manufactured, single-magnetic-domain nanocrystal that outperforms conventional chemically synthesised beads on sensitivity, consistency and cost.

Today that raw material underpins a full product line: enrichment reagents, nucleic acid extraction kits, antibodies and proteins, cell-sorting systems, laboratory instruments and point-of-care devices — sold to IVD manufacturers, hospitals, CDCs and research institutes, and now being introduced to partners across Pakistan and South Asia.

THE CORE TECHNOLOGY — BNCM

A single-crystal magnetic bead, grown rather than synthesised

Most magnetic beads on the market are built by coating iron-oxide cores with polymer shells — a process that yields uneven particle size, weak dispersibility and inconsistent performance batch to batch. BNCM is different: it is biomineralised by bacteria and harvested through a controlled fermentation process.

  • Single crystal, single magnetic domain, cubic-octahedral structure
  • Fixed 50 nm particle size with under 7% CV between batches
  • Fe₃O₄ / Fe₃S₄ core wrapped in a phospholipid, protein or glycoprotein biofilm
